The lovely people at BritMums very kindly agreed to let me write them an article. You can find me over on BritMums having a bit of rant. I know, I know, what is it with the ranting? I have a bit of a bee in my bonnet about Trump. I have already spoken about my thoughts on Trump but still I needed to vent some more!
Last week was a week of contrasts, there was Trump and his statements, however, we also had the brilliant and wonderful Michelle Obama making the most impassioned speech. Today, I am talking about this and sexism over on BritMums. I am also sharing the sexism that I have encountered. In the article I reference a chance meeting in the pub with a man. A man who told me that he wanted to lock me up in his cellar. Hmmm, pretty sure that is illegal. However, this encounter is just one of many. I could have spoken about the time I was 15. I was with my best friend and we were running late, as a result we decided to cut through the woods. We had done this lots of times before. This time was different though, this time a man flashed us. We didn’t report it, we didn’t even tell our parents. We blamed ourselves for taking that shortcut. We took the blame. Then there was the time I worked in local government and had my bum slapped. Again, I said nothing. This is something that is so common in our society, women blaming themselves. I know that many of you will have similar experiences to share. Let’s talk about it, sexism should not be normalised.
Head over to BritMums now and read my thoughts on Trump. Help me get it out of my system. Let me know what you think of Trump? Have you ever encountered any sexism? I would love to read your thoughts.
