Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

December 15, 2016

Yaaaaaay or should that be Ho Ho Ho?

Merry Christmas lovely peeps.

I know I am a bit early but I have decided to take a break from blogging over Christmas. I need to focus on eating all of the chocolate, mince pies and turkey! Not necessarily in that order. I really hope that you all have a lovely Christmas. Christmas can be a stressful time. Lump a whole room of relatives together, people that haven’t seen each other all year, and there is bound to be some fireworks! I have learnt from experience. Christmas has sometimes been a funny affair in our house. There was the year that my Dad gorged on a tub of mini cheddars. He ate them all. Then he refused to come to the table and eat Christmas dinner because he had toothache! That would be all the cheddars and chocolate, you plonker. Or, there was a year that my Dad nearly came to blow with my Nan over the definition of where “home” is. There have been many arguments and falling outs over the years. Now I think about it….

I realise that they mostly revolve around my Dad.

I have learnt that the key is to make sure my Dad has a seat, preferably in a room by himself, if not in the corner; snacks on hand (not too many) and lots of red wine. Keep him topped up with wine and all should be ok. I start him early by making him a Bucks Fizz for breakfast. I don’t put too much orange juice in his. Also, don’t try to get my Dad to play a game (he won’t want to) and steer clear from any conversations that include politics and the Daily Mail. My Dad is very aware that he is a bit of a grinch and he is, mostly, a good sport when it comes to us winding him up about it.

I really hope that you all have a fabulous fun filled Christmas. Drink some eggnog, eat that Christmas pudding, pull some crackers and have fun with your loved ones.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

I will see you at the start of January.

xxxxx

Your Dad sounds like my kind of people. Put me in a chair away from the chaos with a nice beverage and I’m good to go. 🙂 Enjoy your blog break and have a very Merry Christmas. I’ll be looking for you in 2017!
