I was delighted when I was contacted by the people behind the fantastic new children’s book, Explorer Dinosaurs! As I have two dinosaur mad girls, this was a book that I had to say yes to.
My First Impressions Of The Book
When the book arrived I was really impressed by the quality of it. A hardback book that opens up to reveal beautifully illustrated pages crammed full of information, which becomes an illustrated timeline that is 1.8 metres long!
Youngest is a bit too young to read it herself but Oldest shared the book with her and they read it together. Heads bent over the book as they studied the different dinosaurs. Youngest might only be 4 but she can reel off an impressive array of dinosaur names. In fact, I think I need to read this book so I can brush up on my dinosaur knowledge. It would certainly help me answer all of the random questions that Youngest asks me about dinosaurs.
This book will tell you the answers to questions like – What was the oldest dinosaur? What did they eat? Why did they die out? And many more questions.
Oldest’s Thoughts On Explorer Dinosaurs!
Oldest adored the idea behind the book and how you become a Special Agent so that you can sort through the clues and unravel the secrets behind the dinosaurs legend. This made it a more interactive reading experience for her. She loved it and found it a captivating book with its brain teasers and fascinating questions.
Will You Join Agent Eric On His Next Mission?
This book is the first in four new books for the Explorer Series and if Explorer Dinosaurs! is anything to go by then they are sure to be a big hit with children and (curious) adults alike! Readers are invited to join Agent Eric Eagle who is looking to recruit children for the next mission. If your child joins the Eagle-Eyed Explorer Club, they will go back in time and on some amazing adventures! They will then be set some secret missions and challenges that they need to complete.
Who Would Like This Book?
This book is aimed at 7-11 year-olds. My 8 year-old absolutely adored it. I would say that this would also be a good book for children who don’t always engage with reading. The nature of the book with its missions, questions and brainteasers means that even the most reluctant reader will become absorbed in the book. If you have a budding explorer then this book would be perfect for them.
Where Can You Find The Book?
The book is priced at £9.99 and you can buy it online at https://www.whatonearthbooks.com or you can purchase it from the National History Museum, Amazon, Waterstones and other independent book stores.
This would make an excellent present for Christmas and the perfect stocking filler for any child. Just be prepared for your child to spend Christmas Day regaling you with lots of fascinating dinosaur facts.
