I have been working at an ever frantic pace and all the while trying to juggle motherhood. It has been full on, and in the background we have had selling the house stress simmering away. It has been very angst ridden to say the least. Therefore, I was thrilled when Denise from Found In France got in touch and asked me if I would like to try some of her lovely goodies from her online shop. I might have screamed “YES PLEASE”
About Found In France
Denise has recently turned her passion into her online business. For the past decade Denise has enjoyed exploring France. For my UK and worldwide readers, living on Jersey means that we are actually closer to France than we are to the UK mainland. We are about half-an-hour away by boat from France. If only someone would build a bridge, or a tunnel; I’ve heard that those tunnels are good. I digress! Denise has been very busy, when I tend to go to St Malo for the day, it’s so I can gorge myself on all of the gorgeous food. However, Denise is far more sensible and uses this time to look for lovely gifts that you can’t find on Jersey. She clearly has an eye for beautiful gifts because her website is stuffed to the brim with gorgeous local French artisanal gifts. It makes me realise that I should have spent less time stuffing my face with crepes and more time looking in the local shops.
However, I won’t need to drag myself from the French cafes because Denise has found all of the beautiful products for me. She has gone out of her way to find some really unique items that are created from natural materials such as wood and cotton. This is a brilliant business to have on Jersey because, despite us being very close to France, we don’t actually have many (if any) businesses selling delightful goodies from France like this.
Denise promised me some goodies but I was not expecting the luxurious extravaganza that she left for me on my doorstep.
Gorgeous Tea Towel
First up was a beautiful tea towel. This is made by Couke; the company was founded in 1931. It is such a stunning towel and the attention to detail is amazing. This towel was made using traditional weaving skills and, in my opinion, it is far too beautiful to be merely used as a tea towel. You can buy it for £8.
Perfect Hand Towel
Next was this gorgeous hand towel. Perfect for your kitchen and wiping your hands on. You don’t want to be wiping your hands on the tea towel. I’m not going to lie, I have been known to do this! A very thick towel which is 100% cotton. This retails for £6.
Then we move onto the pampering bits and this is where I disappear to the bathroom. I was very excited to luxuriate in some bubbles and enjoy some pampering. So I locked the bathroom door, and put up my do not disturb sign. I love my children but this was one bath that I wanted to enjoy on my own. I emptied the bath of the menagerie of plastic ducks and I prepared myself for some serious pampering.
Gel Douche Familial Lavande
This can be used as a bath or shower gel. I chose bath as I was in some dire need of rest and relaxation. You get a huge bottle for £14 and a little bit goes a very long way. This bottle would last you for ages. What I love about this product is that it is very gentle. The scent of lavender is very gentle. As someone who can struggle with her sleep, this is perfect because it would help soothe you to sleep.
Marseille Liquid Soap Verveine (Lemon Verbena) Fragrance
A gorgeous hand-soap that is too nice to hideaway, so I will be keeping it in my downstairs cloakroom for everyone to admire and use. It has a lovely lemony scent and is very gentle on the hands. Perfect for the upcoming winter, as it will cleanse without drying out our skin. This soap is made from a family recipe and cooked in a cauldron which is traditional for genuine Marseille soap-making traditions. It costs £11.
Heart Soap Eglatine (Rose)
Following on the soap theme, I tried this gorgeous soap. It really does smell divine and would make a fabulous small gift for someone. It has a gorgeous rose scent and reminds me of a childhood holiday to the Alps. Priced at £3.
Marseille Olive Oil Soap Cube
This is a very hefty soap. Hefty doesn’t seem like the right word because it is also a thing of beauty, but the soap is very substantial. Again, it is made using the traditional soap making methods. It is made from olive oil and there are no nasties added so perfect for the whole family and those with sensitive skin. Also, a good present for those who are conscious about the environment.
Ambiance Des Alpes
Finally to set the mood for my bath I used some Ambiance Des Alpes. I was transported away from Jersey and felt as if I was strolling amongst the mountains. I was very tempted to start singing “the hills are alive with the sound of music” but I resisted as I didn’t think that my neighbours would be too impressed. It is a very delicate smell, which subtly lifts a room. Price £12.
Des Alpes Paturages Candle
To aid the relaxing vibe I lit my Ambiance Des Alpes Paturages candle. It wouldn’t be a relaxing bath without a candle. With its gorgeous smell the perfume really does make you feel like you are laying back on the grass, enjoying the sun. You can smell buttercups, anemones and lupins to name a few. Priced at £18
Black Exfoliating Soap
Once I had enjoyed my relaxing soak, I decided that it was time to try the Black Exfoliating Soap. I was very excited to try this because I had never seen anything like it before. This soap is very well regarded and has been recognised for its versatility. You will want to use this with exfoliating gloves. This is what we should all be using before our Christmas parties arrive. It exfoliates our skin, removing dead skin and leaving our skin super soft. It can also be used to prolong your tan. This is such a fantastic product!
Great Gifts For Christmas
I loved all of my gifts from Denise and Found In France and I know that they would make lovely gifts for friends and family. It’s fantastic to have such a brilliant local business providing amazing and authentic gifts from France. If you are looking for inspiration for Christmas this year, then you really need to browse the Found In France website. You could even put together a delightful little French hamper. That would be one hamper I would love to receive for Christmas.
Thanks to Denise for sending me these gifts.
Disclaimer – Please be aware that I was gifted these products. However, I was not paid to write this post, I just wanted to share this fantastic Jersey business.
