Do you remember that ages ago, way back in January, I wrote a piece about how grey was going to be big this Spring. Well now Spring is now here and grey is everywhere in the shops. I have had people tell me that they would love to wear grey but they feel that it makes them look washed out. Whilst I can understand this fear I still think grey is a great colour that anyone can wear. For example you can warm a grey outfit up with splashes of blush pink. Or perhaps if you fancy a edgier look a bright pop of colour is more up your street.
Grey doesn’t need to be drab. Actually reasearch has suggested that wearing grey signals to people that you are,
- practical,
- cautious,
- successful,
- solid.
However, it has also been suggested that you should avoid wearing grey if you are feeling lonely and stressed - eeeks! As a mum to two little ones I need an outfit that is practical for the school run but also if I am dashing out in the evening for drinks. Spring also marks the arrival of the slightly warmer (we live in hope) weather. I have been rocking a lot of grey this month so here is my favourite grey outfit.
April’s all grey outfit
Jeans
My beloved diesel jeans were finally relegated to the bin this month and I still haven’t been able to find the perfect replacement. However, these jeans from Autograph at Marks and Spencers are the perfect stop-gap at £39.50. Grey skinny jeans that are comfortable to wear and can be dressed down with trainers or dressed up with some heels.
Top
Classic linen vest top at £17.50 from Autograph at Marks and Spencers is perfect for the school run and great for this changeable Spring weather as I can layer easily. Leave it plain for a daytime look or add a necklace to give it more oomph for the evening.
Layers
I have a long grey cardigan which I purchased in the ASOS sales for a fiver a couple of years ago but that is no longer available. The above cardigan from ASOS costs £45.00 and is perfect for layering up. It is also gives the outfit a lovely slouchy and comfortable feel.
Accessories
This little beauty is from Joules and I love wearing it as it gives any outfit a lovely pop of zesty colour. It is also the perfect way to dress up your outfit. It is called the Mika necklace and costs £29.95.
What is your favourite outfit for this month? Can I tempt you with a bit of grey?
