Running Clothes

April 5, 2016

Mr C knows me so well. He realises that I need all the motivation in the world to get me out of the house and running. and he appreciates that the best way to encourage this is by tempting me with the promise of new clothes. So Mr C shared with me a discount code for 20% off adidas clothes but only once I am, (quite literally), up and running again.

As I don’t have any proper running clothes I have been perusing their website for my dream running must haves and the below are on my wish list. You will notice that trainers aren’t on there as that was the one thing I invested in last time when training for my 10k. Who would have thought that running in fashion trainers was the reason I kept on picking up shin splints? Yes it was not one of my brightest moves.

All of these are available from the adidas website. The top is perfect for running in this cooler weather. It is called the running response tee and has a reflective trim. It is also made with special material that manages the moisture (sweat to you and me) and sweeps it away from your skin. It costs £25.

The leggings or response long tights to give them their proper name. These are designed to be like a second skin when running so no more saggy bottoms-huzzah. No more flashing the elderly man my bottom and mummy tummy as he walks his dog! The residents of Jersey can rest easy again. Again these have reflective stripes which means I can be seen in headlights etc Although I would recommend wearing a high vis bib as well if you want to go running at night.

I am aware that wearing these two together might be a bit ott for some people but personally I like the look for a number of reasons.

  • They say black is slimming and therefore running in this should give the appearance of me being a slim athletic type when in reality I am a waddling sofa lover

  • I like to think that I would look like a dangerous ninja in this gear and therefore no one would dare laugh at me when they see me running/limping past them.

  • Wearing all black means that I could pretend that really I’m not out on a run but in fact I am on some secret mission as a spy and I am running to save the world, I might even throw in some karate chops, ha-ya, and a forward roll too. Yep, James Bond has nothing on me. Look I will do anything to make the run more bearable!

I would also treat myself to the snazzy socks for £8. They are built-in with climacool and therefore keep your feet cool when you are running. They also have cushioned toes to keep your feet feeling comfortable as you pound the pavement.

What do you think of my choices? What do you do to distract yourself when exercising? I can’t be the only one who pretends they are a super spy, can I?

I love your choices, total spy wear going on there although for some reason I always end up buying pink? I need some new gym stuff, I need things that fall down too. I am so undignified in zumba hitching them back up lol! I also have my eye on some cute pink obv trainers which are perfect for the gym and classes I go to x

We should set ourselves a target and then when we hit it we should reward ourselves with all the gym clothes 🙂 x

I definitely relate to the motivation of new clothes to do exercise! I think your choices are great, and I distract myself by pretending I’m playing the heroine in the next BBC drama, running away from James Norton (he can definitely catch me if he wants…) Great post, thanks for sharing #TwinklyTuesday X

ooh that’s a good idea, but instead of running away from James Norton I will pretend that I am running to him! 😉
