So the house sitters have arrived and our suitcases are packed and waiting by the door. Therefore, this is our cue to say goodbye to all of you as we are leaving to go on our adventures now. Our very lovely (but quite frankly a little bit unreliable 😉 ) house sitters did offer to man the blog for me and to sort out my posts. However, I am worrying whether we will find the house in one piece on our return so there is no way I am letting them loose with my blog! So I may be quiet for a while and I hope you will forgive me. I will try to send you all a postcard via the blog, and I hope to still be able to tweet occasionally and put the odd photo of me stuffing myself with the local delicacies on Instagram. Please don’t forget us and I would still love your vote in the BiBs.
The lovely Hannah from The Diary of an ‘ordinary’ mum and Tracey from One Frazzled Mum tagged me to share a list of my non negotiables. These are the things I need in my life to be a happy person, the things that I couldn’t live without. Well as this is my second time of writing this post. My first non negotiable would be
that I don’t spend ages writing a post for it to disappear 🙁
Right, now I feel better. So here are my list of non negotiables:
- Family.
Yes, I think my family are quite possibly bonkers but I love them all the more for it. It is never quiet in our house. Never. We are always busy and there has normally been some drama that needs resolving ASAP. The girls love each other with a fierce passion but when they fall out then the whole of Jersey knows about it. However, I wouldn’t have it any other way. They are loud, crazy and loyal. They are honest, too honest sometimes. Oldest always likes to critique my choice of clothes. She offers me all sort of lovely constructive criticism like
“Your bum looks big.”
Charming. Or
“You look like you are in your pjs still.”
Lovely.
However, they will also happily have a random dance with me round the kitchen. We love a random dance in our house and we have even been known to get Mr C involved. They all love a good sing-a-long and sometimes it can feel like I am an extra in The Sound of Music. They always make me laugh. They all also give the best hugs. I am incredibly proud of all them. Just don’t tell them any of this as I would hate for them to get big heads 😉
- Coffee. I cannot function without coffee. Is that terrible? My struggles with mornings are very real. I am not an early morning person. If I don’t get a coffee down me within half an hour of waking then I can be like one of the seven dwarfs. Not Grumpy! Sleepy, I would be Sleepy. I try not to have more than two cups a day but it is always the first thing I drink in the morning. We have a bean to cup coffee machine. It is amazing and quite possibly the best invention. EVER. I love it. Maybe as much as Mr C and the girls. Ssh don’t tell anyone.
- Music. I have two girls that love their music. They are always dancing to music or Oldest is playing tunes on her piano. In the early days of courting Mr C and I went to a lot of gigs and our first holiday together was to the V festival. Music was a really important part of our early dating life and it still is today. Music can really lift your mood. It has actually been proven to make our brain happy. In the car we always have to have music or the radio on. Although for a while there I was forced to listen to the Frozen CD. ALL OF THE TIME. You will be relieved to know that I have now managed to wean them off Frozen. This may or may not be because they think it is broken *innocent face*. This week I have mostly been listening to Beyoncé. I love it. Mr C on the other hand is rather scared of me when I am listening to it!
- I have made no secret of the fact that I love blogging and at the moment I like to try to find the time to write a blog post everyday. It feels good to write and to get my thoughts down. Being a mum can mean that you can spend a lot of time feeling like you aren’t in control and sometimes it can feel a little bit like you are just surviving. Being a parent is awesome but it can be a little bit frustrating at times too. Blogging is one of the things that I can control. I can choose what to write, when and how much. I also love to read blogs and probably read upwards of at least 20 blogs a day!
- Which rather neatly leads me onto the fact that I am up for a BiB in the Fresh Voice category. I really would love it if you would vote for me. It is really easy you just to need to click -

Ha ha! Thanks for the nomination! I accept the challenge as long as there’s a very loose deadline! I say this having spent about 10 hours writing a post on moneysaving tips for cutting the cost of glasses and contact lenses…It was supposed to take me a couple of hours!
I love this list and there are non negotiables there that apply to me too. My eldest daughter is 13 and has been offering fashion tips for 10 years! She is usually right!
Right. Need. Coffee.
Have a fab holiday and I hope your house is intact when you return
P.s. Our coffee machine is broken. Please tell me more about yours . (Serious question)
Haha, very loose deadline! Our coffee machine is a Miele one. It is ace x
Ooh! Thanks lovely. Hmm what are my non-negotiables…have a lovely hols! Xxx
Thank you lovely x
Oh yay for going on holiday! We are off next Saturday and I cannot CANNOT wait. I thought about trying to extend to two weeks but then realised we a) definitely can’t afford it and b) it’s my goddaughter’s birthday and I am supposed to be on face painting duty so it was obviously not going to happen. I hope your holiday is blissful and looking forward to seeing photos. Non-negotiables? Beer every night (just one) and chocolate. Boring but honest. Happy weekend lovely lady. xxx
Oooh yes beer and a chocolate a MUST! Thanks for your kind comment and I hope that you have fab holiday too 🙂 x
Hope you have a fabbity fab time away! I love your list! I cannot believe I missed music off of mine, I don’t know how I forgot that. Like you our first (few) holidays were festivals and our first ‘date’ was to a gig, Music is definitely a big factor in our household, our toddlers already obsessed! X
Yes, we have to have music in our house. Thanks for nominating me 🙂 x
