I know.
Don’t say it.
I said that I was taking a couple of days off from blogging but I just have to share my news. I have so much to share with you all –
- How I arrived at Jersey airport feeling poorly. My stomach was churning (nerves) and therefore my lunch consisted of nuts.
- How I spent my time waiting in Jersey airport with a stag party. I loved it.
- How the Brit Mums reception left me completely star struck.
- How I saw Tim from ‘Slouching Towards Thatcham’ and cooed at him. Ok, less cooing and more like “TIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIM” with arms flung open. However, to spare my dignity he pretended that he hadn’t heard me. Probably something to do with the restraining order. I’m joking. Although if Tim reads this then he may well want to get a restraining order with my name on it.
- How I was very excited to be off the island and on the underground. At the time I thought that it was a good idea to pretend I was in some classic 80s music video. This was thanks to the wind tunnel that was pummeling my hair on the train. Sarah from ‘Mumzilla‘ took some classic photos of this moment. I am praying that they do not resurface on social media and NO I was not drunk! I’d only had about 2 glasses of wine, I was very well-behaved.
- How I stayed at the amazing and very cool Hoxton hotel (review to follow later).
- How I had horrific nightmares (nerves).
- How I woke at 3am with a migraine. Probably down to the fact that I had only eaten nuts the day before.
- How I was very sick in the morning. Probably down to the migraine and nerves!
- How I brushed my teeth a trillion times as I was worried about breathing sick breath onto everyone.
- How at Brit Mums I had such fun with my blogging friends.

- How I shrieked a lot and talked at such a high pitch that only dogs could hear me
- How I jumped on a trampoline and nearly flashed my boobs at everyone. There are also photos of this. The shame.
- How I saw Tim again and became star struck…. AGAIN.
- How I nearly knocked the Coke Zero stand over.
- How I lost all feeling in my feet from the crazy high heels I was wearing.
- How I learnt so much from all of the sessions.
- How when the BiBs started I was still practising my best loser face.
- How when my blog was called out I couldn’t believe the support I received. Everyone was so kind.
- How it took me 5 years to get to the stage.
- How on the way to the stage I was worrying about breathing sicky breath onto Carol Smillie.
- How when I got on the stage I realised that I had no speech prepared. I still don’t know what I said.
- How I struggled to hold it together on stage.
- How I cried happy tears.
- How I went out for dinner with some lovely blog friends
- How the one time I had an excuse to paaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarty I felt so ill that I went to bed.
- How I then couldn’t sleep and finally gave up at 5am.
- How I arrived at the tube station at 7am to find it still closed. I thought London was supposed to be a 24 hour city!
- How I witnessed a fight at the tube over Brexit.
- How my heart broke over the fight over Brexit.
- How at the airport I couldn’t work the machines. I hate those machines. A lady had to help me, luckily she found my stupidity funny.
- How I had to go in one of those body scanners as I had set off the alarm.
- How security did not like me dancing and doing jazz hands in the scanner. Spoilsports 😉
- How I arrived home to find no one waiting for me at the gates. It turns out that Youngest had become so excited about my imminent arrival that she wet herself.
- How I finally located my family and they had made me the most amazing welcome home banner.
- How Mr C had surprised me with a bottle of champagne in the fridge.
No, that’s not the news that I wanted to share with you. What I wanted to share with you is that I am going to be on BBC Radio Jersey tomorrow at 3:20pm. I can’t wait! I am very excited. Also arriving tomorrow morning is a photographer from the Jersey Evening Post. I know! Eeeeeeks. They were supposed to arrive today. I had received a phone call explaining that a photographer would be arriving in about an hour’s time. Not the best timing as Youngest and I were feeling poorly. Cue frantic scrambling around the house. Then me frantically trying to persuade Youngest that if she wants to be in a photo then she really needs to wear clothes. I then tried to find something that looked ok and didn’t need ironing and proceeded to kick all of the toys under the sofa and behind closed doors. Finally, I tried to put some make-up on. Then after all said panic they phoned to say that they would be taking the photo tomorrow. There might have been some muttering of swear words under my breath.
It has been a bit of a whirlwind and it is all down to you guys. I still can’t believe it but I am having so much fun. Thank you for giving me this opportunity.
You all rock!
Ps don’t forget 3:20pm tomorrow (Wednesday), BBC Radio Jersey. Come and listen to me 🙂
Aw Emma you rock! What a whirlwind you’ve had – I’m sorry to hear you’ve been feeling ill though…how exciting you’re going to be on radio! Be sure to check with Charlie (?) about a potential regular slot 😉 Hope it goes well lovely! Xx
Ha! Ha! See Bridie is telling you to make shameless plugs for regular slots on radio too!!! Go Emma! Go Emma! Don’t forget to say how much you love Joules, Paperchase, Lakeland, Cruises, New York (that one’s so you can give the gig to me!!)
I love your bullet list! It’s hilarious. I hope next year you are 100% better and we can make a proper weekend of it!
Enjoy it all! You deserve it!
Aw Emma I can’t believe I missed the awards but massive congratulations! So well deserved – such a fab blog! Sorry to hear you were feeling ill though that really sucks! #triballove
Radio Jersey again? Love it! You are a regular! Well done again and from one who was there I can assure you that none of this-the nerves, the sicky breath, the Tim fandom-none of this was noticeable! Congrats again and glad you had a lovely glass of champers waiting.
Haha, thank you for your reassuring words 🙂 xx
Aww love it! That’s not meant to be a short response to a fab post but I genuinely loved it all and totally adored meeting you! Now having met you I laughed my way through all of the points – so gorgeously well deserved my lovely xx
Thank you so much! It was so lovely to meet you 🙂 xx
Oh I welled up at the Mr C champagne and welcome home banner. Congratulations! Sorry to hear you felt sick though. Didn’t help that you had to fly too! Hope the photograpger turns up tomorrow!!
Haha, he turned up, thanks 🙂 xx
I’m totally sharing the 80’s wind tunnel photos when you are rich and famous…are you sure you don’t want to pop one in here?! Hahaha 😀
I sent that photo to my husband with the line- ‘look at me in Laaaaandon, I still got the moves’- He replied -‘what catching flies in your mouth.’ Rude!
You are such a superstar! It was an absolute pleasure to meet you and whoop for you! 😉
Enjoy your success, and best of luck for your celeb appearance on the Beeb!
xxx
Awww you are the superstar!!
Aw Emma I am so proud of you and so glad to have met you. It was amazing fun. Congratulations hun… so well deserved xx
#triballove
Thank you lovely xx
Congrats on your win – I can’t remember what you said on stage either but it was completely appropriate and you didn’t mention sick. London is a 24 hour city, but just not the tube. There’s been strikes about that, but hey ho!
As long as I didn’t mention sick…Of course the strikes, although I did rather naively think that by 7am it would be open but hey ho!
Woo hoo congratulations! So well deserved, you had my vote and I was so happy to hear you’d won. Sorry you felt ill and only managed nuts for lunch, that is never a recipe for feeling good! Hee hee. Hope you enjoyed being on the radio, I’ll listen back today! Xx
Haha, thanks for your really lovely and kind words. I still can’t believe it. Regarding the radio – WAFFLED!
Hi Emma, this must be the most exuberant post ever – I felt almost on a roller coaster of emotion reading it! You were sitting at the next table and it was great seeing how happy you were – those vibes spread near and far. Hope your nerves have gone and now just gently enjoying your super win with the family. Congratulations and I can see why you won. Jo x
Oh thank you lovely lady! That is so kind of you 🙂 xxx
It was waffle. Lots of waffle.
Fab fab post (erm what was that about writer’s block?!) but yes I can’t believe we didn’t party at the Hoxton after all those Twitter chats!!
I know!! I am gutted but I really felt so poorly and by Monday I just wanted my bed because I felt so lousy. Typical!
Ah, you’re such a regular they’ll be offering you your own slot soon! Congratulations again – I’m now gutted I didn’t go to BML reading everyone’s posts, it sounds amazing! #TheList
It was amazing. There is always next year 🙂 xx
So thrilled for you. And fantasic to meet you. I’m also realising reading this post how many people were there that I didn’t speak to. They need to make those name badges bigger next year. Either that or we all need to wear T-shirts with our blog names to make life easier! Congratulations lovely. xxx
It was lovely to meet you too! I also agree t-shirts next year 🙂
Love Love this post! You totally deserve the award and congratulations again 🙂 x #TheList
Awww thank you lovely 🙂 xxxx
I’ve instructed my lawyers and you can expect the restraining order in the post any day now …
I’m both mortified that I didn’t hear you and amused by the resultant anecdote. I don’t think anyone’s ever been starstruck on seeing me before. I think that’s possibly even more amusing.
Really pleased for you winning Fresh Voice – well deserved. I’m not at all bitter that I’ve yet to make even a final five at the BiBs. Okay, I am a little bitter. Alright, I’m more bitter than a pint of bitter from the Bitter Man pub. Next year if you win you have to sing your acceptance speech, okay? 😉
Haha, I think it is amazing that I somehow managed to bluff myself an award this year so I will happily agree and promise to sing my acceptance speech next year because it really is not going to happen!! This award is a one time thing. I feel very lucky to have won an award because there are so many amazing and brilliant blogs out there (including yours) that are all very worthy of an award. I think that next year you should recreate your Pretty in Pink song when you WIN your award!!
Huge congrats, your blog is fabulous! I couldn’t sleep either! Too much excitement!
This is brilliant. Really made me laugh – and then cry because I wasn’t at BiBs. Huge congrats on the award. Very well deserved. Hope the radio interview went well. Brid is right, you definately rock!
Awww thank you! The radio interview was okish!
Oh Emma you absolute babe! I love this post it’s so full of emotion and I am still bursting for you. I knew you would win 🙂
Ps You’re cracking me up about Tim-he will find this so funny!
Thanks for linking up to #thelist xxx
Awww you lovely lady!! I was so excited when I saw Tim and I recorded a podcast with him this week! I was more nervous doing that, talking to the legend that is Tim, than I was doing the radio!
