A couple of weeks ago I talked about how I was going to reclaim some of the house back. I made bold claims about turning our guest room into an office/gym. Well, I have only gone and made a start! We decided that we would still need somewhere for our guests to stay. We debated asking them to stay in our shed, but we didn’t think that would go down too well. Therefore, we decided that we needed a sofa bed. I spent a lot of time researching sofa beds and I have come to the realisation that sofa beds can be quite expensive. I realised this after we had already taken the guest bed to the tip! We decided that we wanted one where the mattress comes up from the base of the sofa. Typically, this type of sofa bed is more expensive. It was also important that the mattress was a decent size. When looking we realised that a lot of sofa beds are actually a very small double, or in some cases, I would even describe them as a slightly bigger single.
Living on Jersey means we are restricted to where we can order our furniture from. Luckily, Made.com deliver to Jersey. Hurrah!
We spotted this sofa in the Made.com sale the other day. It had over a hundred pounds off it! Now this wasn’t the colour I was looking for as we already have a brown sofa in our living room. However, the saving was too good to ignore. Also, brown is very practical. We love this sofa bed as it has a simple pull out mechanism meaning that we can transform the sofa into a bed very quickly.
I am now thinking of colours that would work well with the brown sofa. I am worried that the sofa will make my office seem very dark. Therefore, I want a bright and beautiful colour that will lift the sofa and the room. Teal and brown are a fantastic colour combination and could work really well in our space. I am thinking some nice teal cushions on the sofa, perhaps some artwork featuring teal. I am also debating painting one wall a very light blue colour. What do you think? The colours are very cool and therefore I should find them calming. They are the perfect combination for an office as they should help focus my mind. Well, I can hope!
Please note that Made.com very kindly gave me a small discount

I love your ideas! I have to say that sounds like a fab colour combo and we have been having the same sofa dilemmas for our spare room. Most of the time we don’t need a bed. We only have guests half a dozen times a year and its where rich has his clothes (as our bedroom wardrobes are filled with mine!!) So there’s an oversized bed in there and little else. We have debated sofa beds (but want a good mattress) or those pop up guest beds where they are a single with another mattress under. Great pinterest board and ideas.
When did you sneak that #HOMEETC badge on?!! I’m back for #HOMEETC and I want that sofa!
This sofa bed has a really good mattress. I will let you know what the guests think!
I love teal and it goes so well with brown – definitely a nice calming colour combination. I’ve gone for kind of the opposite in my home office – it’s not at all calming, it’s a riot of colour! I find it inspiring and motivating – I’m pretty lazy by nature so need something to jolt me out of that! #BloggerClubUK
Ooh an inspiring and motivating colour combo sounds perfect!
Lovely colour combo – I have the same in my bathroom 🙂 A few bronze accessories work well with this too x #BloggerClubUK
I was thinking of some bronze or copper 🙂
Ooh I am so envious of the fact you have a guest room- my dream! I think teal will look great with the sofa, and certain cushions and prints will really ‘pop’- love the stag print especially #homeetc
Ahh thank you! I am really excited that we are getting it sorted.
I share your pain with the sofa bed hunt! We bought ours a while ago and also realised how expensive they are and then had to get the bannisters taken off the stairs temporarily because it wouldn’t fit up the staircase!! Got there in the end though 🙂 I love your pick and think teal will work really well with it X #HomeEtc
Oh my goodness what a pain with the stairs!
We have a brown leather sofa in the front room and it’s covered in a range of teal & white/brown (fabric feels like a rough Aaron jumper) cushions. I personally love it, it warms the sofa up nicely. #HomeEtc. X
Oh fab!
I think it sounds like a great match, I love your mood boards. I would got for one painted wall too and pops of colour with some of those accessories that you picked. x #homeetc
Thank you 🙂
Looks like an amazing array of colour and very stylish too. I have a very plain white scheme which is nice and bright and allows me to take good photos too. Thanks for sharing – love this! Jess x #HomeEtc
Thank you. It is very dark in the office and plain white at the moment so I feel it needs a punch of colour. I am nervous though!
Love the pops of teal. And I think you made the right choice re guests and the shed! 🙂 #homeetc
Aaah I LOVE MADE.com too — I’ve bought some fabulous bits and pieces from there over recent years! Such great inspiration too — love your ideas 🙂 Thanks so much for linking up with #HomeEtc — hope to see you tomorrow 🙂 Caro x
