Oldest loves getting things through the post so I knew that we had to try the ‘Clever Bees Club’ box subscription service. It did not disappoint. The box arrived when Oldest was at school. As soon as we arrived home Oldest wanted to open it. However, I used the promise of opening the box as a reward for doing her homework and having her bath. I have never seen her so keen to do her homework! It certainly made homework easier that night.
Now I could tell you what I thought of the box, but I thought that it might be better if Oldest told you herself! As we know Oldest can be a very harsh critic.
Oldest was happy with her ‘Clever Bees’ box. I was also impressed with the idea of the box. Mark founded the ‘Clever Bees Club’. He had the idea of a monthly subscription box after many trips to toy shops with his children. Mark realised that there was a real need in the market for an affordable monthly subscription box for children. As Mark said –
“Wouldn’t it be great to have a mixture of new fantastic activities AND fun toys to play with on a regular basis?”
What is the Clever Bees box?
- A monthly subscription box.
- Contains goodies for children.
- A mixture of fun developmental activities.
Each month the box will have a different focus. The focus for this box was water. The box contained a range of activities and goodies under this common theme.
The box comes with its own information sheet. On there are a range of suggestions with ideas for the fun that you can have with the goodies in your box. There was a great range of fun and developmental activities to keep both Oldest and Youngest busy. The box is good value anyway but even better value if you have siblings. My two enjoyed this box and happily shared the box amongst themselves.
The box also came with a recipe card. Perfect for all of these rainy days that we have been having recently. We were pleasantly surprised with how many different activities and goodies there were in the box.
Clever Bees like to include a wide range of activities in the box because the idea is that the box will keep the children entertained whilst also providing value for money.
As you can see there really was a variety of activities. Clever Bees wanted a box that had enough activities to keep the children entertained for longer than a weekend. They also wanted to ensure that it had a focus on child’s development, whilst making it fun and interactive.
Each month the box has a new theme but there will always be a range of activities like the below –
- Cooking recipes
- Activity books
- Creative crafts
- Animal facts
- Geography
- Music and sounds
- Basic Science
- Insects and flowers
- Grow your own fruit and veg
- The human body
- Story books
- Family games
- Colouring & drawing
- Competitions
My two were delighted with the above book that came with the box and it was lovely to see them sitting down and enjoying the book together.
The box is suitable for children aged 3-7 years old. The box is posted to you free of charge and the cost of a monthly box is £19.95. If you would like more information on the box and/or to subscribe then head over to the ‘Clever Bees Club’ website.
What do you think of the ‘Clever Bees Club’ box?
*Disclaimer – I was gifted this box but all words are my own*
These look great if a bit pricey. Thanks for joining us for #marvmondays
Thanks Fran. 🙂
Oh this is such a beautiful idea. My three would have adored this concept and what a wonderful treat to have each month? Also, a great bargaining tool for homework and behaviour as they will so look forward to receiving each month. The contents are fab too – that book was one of my favourites to read when the children were small. Gorgeous video too – I love how carefully your daughter opened the box – so lovely! #MarvMondays
Haha, yes Oldest takes after me, she really has to savour opening the present/box!
Wonderful review – I love the video and how excited Oldest is with the box! I can’t wait till E is older so she can enjoy crafty things like this too, and fab that it comes with a book too 🙂 xx #triballove
They both loved the book. I thought the book was a really lovely touch 🙂
Tbis looks absolutely awesome… can’t wait for bubba to be older so we can get one. So many goodies inside and i loved the theme idea for a box. Excellent
#triballove
Yes, I think the theme idea for every box is brilliant 🙂
If my daughter was older I’d have probably had a go at these. The contents look fab, though I’m not sold on the ‘girls’ sticker book as I really don’t see why such things need to be gendered. #TribalLove
Yes, I don’t like gendered books either. However, you are invited to give your feedback so that can be fed back for next time 🙂
What a lovely review and even better that oldest reviewed it herself. I think their boxes are brilliant and a great treat for kids. x #triballove
Yes, Oldest insisted that review it 🙂
This is such a lovely idea and something kids can look forward to every month. It’s great for them and for us too because sometimes I lack any ideas to keep my little ones entertained. Lovely review #marvmondays
Yes, it is nice to get fresh inspiration every month 🙂
Such a brilliant idea! I love that there is such a range in the activities provided the box. In these days of technology overdrive, getting back to basics and bonding over books, crafts and baking with siblings and parents is so important. Lovely post…literally!!! #marvmondays
I think it is so important to go back to basics with our children 🙂 xx
Oh wow, I have never seen anything like this before. It is a really great idea! xxx #MarvMondays
You should look them up. They are a fab new company 🙂
These boxes do look great fun. I think my two would love them. Love the video with your oldest showing how excited she is with it. #MarvMondays
Aww thank you. She was very excited!
This is a fab idea, particularly for mums who like. Me who struggles to find engaging diverse and different activities for my little ones. Definietly something to keep in mind for when mine are older xx #marvmondays
Yes, I think it is a great idea 🙂
I think that I would love a subscription box for me! I might have to research suitable boxes 🙂
You are right, it is like getting prizes!!
I’m sure I commented on this! This looks so much fun and getting a Julia Donaldson book is a massive plus! Our girls (and me) loved these books growing up…Tiddler and a Squash and a Squeeze were our favourites. Emily and I knew Tiddler off by heart and would act out the parts! I was tempted to record it and send it to Julia as it was so cute hearing Emily’s animated voice. Looks like eldest hard great fun with Clever Bees.
