Wicked Uncle Challenge

Uncle Jon is known for forgetting birthdays. There are many reasons for this:

  • He is an international man of mystery

The above is a picture of Uncle Jon; he was on a very important mission.

  • He is very busy exploring the world

Yes, while I am cleaning up poo explosions; Uncle Jon is climbing mountains. I’m not jealous: much.

  • Uncle Jon doesn’t do birthdays because his birthday is on Christmas Day. Yes, Uncle Jon burst into my life one Christmas Day. My Nan was not amused because she had to cook the Christmas dinner as a result of my Mum being in labour. In fact her exact words were,

“It has to be a boy. Only a boy would be so blo*dy awkward”

  • Uncle Jon lives in Norway. Distance can cause difficulties. You would have to buy a present, wrap it, and then post it. That requires a lot of effort. Uncle Jon is a very busy man (as you can see from the above pictures).

  • He doesn’t have any children of his own. It is hard enough buying presents when you do have children, but when you don’t have children it must be nearly impossible.

What could we do? It was starting to get embarrassing. Uncle Jon needed to step-up his A-game. Wicked Uncle contacted me to tell me that they had the answer. They told me about their fantastic website. A website full of amazing toys. This sounded too good to be true! Then they told me how their fabulous website has the ability to sort the toys by category, gender, age or a mixture of all three. Wow! Had we finally found the answer to Uncle Jon’s present woes? Wicked Uncle then offered for us to try it out, that way we could see for ourselves. They kindly gave us some money in the form of a voucher code. With Oldest’s birthday the following week, I jumped at the chance. The lovely people at Wicked Uncle sent over the voucher code and I then informed Uncle Jon of his top-secret mission.

I sent Uncle Jon the voucher code but resisted the urge to make suggestions of what would be an ideal present. I found that very hard. However, I wanted to see if the website worked so I left Uncle Jon to it. I had NO idea what he was going to order. I was scared, very scared. Uncle Jon informed me that the website was very easy to use and that he was quietly confident in his choice of presents. I was not as confident. The delivery from Wicked Uncle was fast and it arrived in plenty of time. I hid the box away until Oldest’s birthday.

Below is my film of Oldest opening the box. You can actually see the fear on my face. I have no idea what is going to be in the box and that worried me. I need not have worried!

As you can see Oldest was over the moon with her gifts. I was really impressed too. Firstly, the fact that there was a birthday card and that the gifts had been wrapped. A lovely, personal touch. I was very surprised by what Uncle Jon had chosen Oldest for her birthday. I don’t think that I would have chosen them. However, I would have been wrong because Oldest loves them. I hate to admit it but

“Uncle Jon was right; I was wrong”

I am never saying that again. Oldest was thrilled with her gifts.

The bag is lovely and really well made. Oldest loves filling it with her bits. It also has different compartments, perfect for storing lots of goodies. Oldest insisted that she take it out to her birthday dinner. She looked very stylish, swishing her bag as we walked to Pizza Express.

Oldest also insisted on bringing her other present from Uncle Jon and Wicked Uncle.

This book is fantastic. It has a great range of creative activities and it will be perfect for those rainy days over the summer holiday. It kept Oldest occupied as she waited for her birthday tea.

I was very impressed with the quality of both products. Wicked Uncle is a fantastic website . It has meant that for the first time ever, Uncle Jon sent Oldest a birthday present; on time! That is a massive win in my book. Oldest loves her gifts and couldn’t be happier. Therefore, I am a very happy mummy too.

Thank you Uncle Jon and Wicked Uncle.

*Disclaimer - Wicked Uncle gave us £40 to spend on their website for the purpose of this review. I passed the code on to Uncle Jon who ordered the gifts. However, all words are mine (and also Oldest). As you can tell Oldest really was happy with her gifts*
