With the 6 weeks holiday stretching ahead of us (5 and 1/2 of those being spent on Jersey), I knew that I was going to have to plan some fun family days out in Jersey. This might be a small island but we do have a good array of family friendly days out. Normally I stick to the free days out. I blame all those years of living in Yorkshire for me being so tight. That and the fact that I am married to a Mancunian ;-). However, when we have a whole 6 weeks to fill then I am the first to admit that I might have to open up my purse. So last Tuesday saw us eagerly arrive at aMaizin! Adventure Park. In fact we were so eager that we arrived before it had even opened.
Family Days Out In Jersey
Opening Times For aMaizin! Adventure Park
The aMaizin! Adventure Park opens everyday at 10am and it doesn’t shut its doors until 5:30pm.
Cost Of Entry
I’m not going to lie, on paper it might seem expensive but believe me that the entry fee for aMaizin! Adventure Park is well worth it. It is a fun family day out in Jersey for the whole family. Even I have been known to enjoy myself here.
- Adult £10.50
- Child 4 plus £10.50
- Toddler £7.80
- Senior Citizen £7:80
Like I said, the entry fee may seem steep. However, when you are in there you will realise that it is incredibly good value for money. All of the activities (there are a lot!) and events are included in your entry fee. There are no hidden costs and there is so much to do that you will want to spend the whole day here. You will also find indoor activities as well as a great range of outside activities.
Outside Activities
Castle Complex And The Lookout
There is oodles to see and do and for all age ranges too! There is such a variety of things to do that everyone in the family will be kept happy. My two spent the first half-hour playing in the ‘Castle Complex’. Charging around, fighting dragons. Yes, they seemed to mistake me for an old dragon. Charming! They then headed over to ‘The Lookout’ where they kept a watchful eye out for enemy attack. Apparently I am the enemy too. Pfft. Finally, I was able to coax them down and away towards the ‘Barnyard’
Barnyard
The girls loved it in here. They had a go at milking the resident cow. Don’t worry he wasn’t real. We also chatted with some very nosey goats, said hello to some ponies and snuffled with some pigs. The girls also had lots of fun stroking the bunny rabbits and guinea pigs. They had lots of fun playing at being a farmer. Perhaps a little bit too much. They would now like a pet pig…
Tractors, Crazy Golf And Ball Blitz
We then headed round the adventure park to check out some of the other activities. We had a go driving some tractors, before trading our tractors in for some golf clubs. I was rather enjoying the golf but alas the girls spotted some big balls and I found myself being chased around an arena by some very big balls in a game called ‘Ball Blitz’.
There is so much to do at aMaizin! that if I went through every activity individually it would be a very long blog post! However, some other highlights outside were the ‘Towering Toboggan’ (the girls loved this and I might have screamed as I slid down it at a fast pace); the ‘Jumping Pillow’ – a personal favourite of mine and I might have enjoyed it a bit too much.
The girls also had lots of fun bouncing around on it. Then there was the ‘Mega Drop”. The name says it all. Needless to say I was too chicken to go down it. The girls on the other hand loved it!
The Maze
There is also a very impressive maze or should that be “maize”? We decided to do the larger maze and we were told “see you next year” by the jovial ranger. I might have laughed a little manically as I feared that we would never get out again. He clearly sensed my fear as we were given a flag which I presume we can wave if we get lost! Somehow we did make it out again. Note to self – you may not want to go into the maze if you watched Harry Potter – The Goblet of Fire, the day before. I might have been a little freaked out! We all really enjoyed our trek through the maze.
Please be aware that the maze is only open during the summer months.
Water Activities
There are also lots of fun water activities that you can do. Therefore, it is worth packing a swimsuit or change of clothes.
Food
There are two cafes where you can purchase food. I have to say that I was very impressed with the lunchbox options that I bought the girls. I was also impressed with my lunch that was freshly made to order. It was all very reasonably priced too. If you don’t fancy buying lunch at aMaizin! then you are welcome to bring in a packed lunch. There are plenty of picnic benches where you can eat your packed lunch. Be warned the cakes in the soft play cafe look amazing and they taste delicious!
Inside Activities – Soft Play
As a mum to two girls I have graced my fair share of soft play areas or, as many of us parents call them, “soft play hell”. However, this is no soft play hell! Soft play heaven would be a label more fitting. It is the best soft play I have been to. Beautifully constructed and perfectly designed to keep children entertained whilst the parents relax with the aforementioned cake and coffee. There are also dressing-up clothes and a sensory room.
Please be aware that you need to be wearing socks to go into soft play.
Overall
This was a brilliant family fun day and money well spent. Everyone will have a blast and no one will want to leave! If you are visiting Jersey, Channel Islands, then make sure you visit aMaizin! If you live in Jersey and you haven’t been then what are you waiting for?! You can even treat yourself to family membership.
aMaizin! Adventure Park is perfect for keeping the whole family entertained. Top tip – arrive early as you will want to spend the whole day here.
This looks fab! I love a good maize maze! My boys would love the crazy golf. Good tip about the Harry Potter reference though – ha ha! x
