August and the holidays shout summer entertaining. However, we have one small issue, we don’t have a lot of outside space. Therefore, we have to transform our indoor space. We fling those windows and doors open, and we transform our home into a great party venue. We have to make our home somewhere people want to visit! How do we make our house a summer party house?
Tableware
We are creating a fiesta mood so we need to think about bright and bold tableware. Plastic is even ok here, or how about enamel? Think kitsch but cool. You can get some great picnic plates with bold prints on them. Also think about your table. We want lots of fresh cut flowers (or faux), pretty lights and candles. This will help create the party mood. Finally, remember your cocktail glasses. Perhaps some plastic non-spill jars with bendy straws. Also we always need a little cocktail umbrella!
Seating
We need to make sure all of our guests are comfortable. We need lots of seating so that everyone has somewhere to sit. However, if you are limited for space then poufs are a great option. Chairs that can be folded and stored away once your guests go home are another alternative.
The views
If you are like us and you don’t have the best view, then create one. Bring the outdoors into the home with your choice of art. You don’t need to spend a lot of money. It can be photos from your travels, old postcards or prints you have found online. You just want to create a talking point for you and your friends. If you do have views then flaunt them. Uncover the windows and make sure that they are wide open.
The bar
A good party always has a well stocked bar. If you fancy yourself as Tom Cruise from Cocktail (meeeeeeeeee), then perhaps you want to invest in a proper mini bar. Go crazy and impress guests with your mixology skills.
To be the summer hostess with the mostess embrace the party spirit. Think of the Olympics. Not the athletes but the city - Rio! Embrace what Rio does best - carnivals. Recreate that carnival spirit at home. Think lots of bright colours and lots of fun!

Have you actually got a shop Em? Have I missed something?! I’m still not getting your answer notifications either grr. Xx
I am just rolling it out at the moment to gauge reaction but should be properly launching in September - eeeks!
Great plates! We don’t do much entertaining… One day!
Oh and #kcacols. Oops! Loving the shop x
Oh what lovely ideas! And all of your table ware is divine! We very rarely entertain at home due to having all of the kids, it’s bad enough that we have to deal with them on a daily basis, let alone other people! We jump at the chance to go to someone elses house with less children than we do! #KCACOLS
Haha, yes it is nice when you get invited to someone’s house. Then you don’t have to wash up either 😉
Oh I like the shop! Loving all the choices as well, we only have a small balcony so we don’t do a lot of entertaining. I wish we had a garden.x #KCACOLS
Oh thank you 🙂
Yup, bring the outisde in. (except when it comes to dog poo maybe) I like the art work tip to create a good view, and who doesn’t want to be like Tom Cruise!? (actually, I just want to be WITH Tom Cruise!) #KCACOLS
Haha you mean young Tom Cruise I hope. Not the slightly, older and stranger version he seems to be now 😉
Great post full of fab ideas - thank you! And love the plates! 🙂 #KCACOLS
Thank you! 🙂
We rarely entertain lots of people at home, but when we do paper plates are a must! I love those ombre ones, so so pretty! I love a good cocktail too - you can learn to perfect it over the night! #KCACOLS
I think every party has to have a cocktail!
Thank you lovely. If I start stocking hot, young men, then I will let you know!
I’ve got a thing about nice plates, although we rarely have people at our house in groups of more than 3 because it’s tiny! Great picks! #kcacols
Love a bit of outdoors dining with cool accessories! Makes the food and drink taste that bit nicer. #KCACOLS
I didn’t know you have a shop Emma. What a surprise. They look all great btw. Good luck with all lovely! Thanks so much for sharing this at #kcacols, 🙂 x
