Our one minute weekend

I have now made it to week 5 of the Make Films course. I am loving this course and I have found Xanthe Berkeley’s guidance invaluable. I can’t believe that I am already half-way through the course. When I started this course I didn’t have a clue where to start when it came to making films, and I was a little worried that I wouldn’t be able to find the time to film. Now I can’t imagine a week without filming. I love it!

This week, Xanthe gave us the instruction of taking a breather. It was an opportunity for people to catch up. There were no new shooting tips this week, and if we didn’t need to catch-up then it was our chance to experiment and play. Eeeks! However, Xanthe was kind enough to still give us a prompt. This week we had to either share our world or go for a walk around our local neighbourhood. I decided to incoroporate the two. This video shows our local neighbourhood as well as what makes our world - namely the beach! This film is again our weekend, and is just one minute long. I tried to use a variety of techniques. I have also been very brave - I start the film with my very own ugly mug! So I apologise now if I put some of you off your breakfast 😉 . Anyway, here is my 1 minute weekend. As always I would love to know what you think.

I hope that you all had a lovely weekend, and just think, next weekend I/we will be at Brit Mums. Exciting times!

  • Ah love all the different techniques! I went to film school for my first year in uni so I love this kind of stuff! : ) So lucky you have a beach on your doorstep, makes me miss California!

  • Awww i love your little videos!

I would love to be able to make videos like that to look back on when Mini is older! Unfortunately, my laptop is far to slow and old to want to process downloading video from my phone, nevermind editing it too!

Maybe when I buy a new one you will have to give me some tips!

  • Hurrah! At least I have some hope of finding you at the BiBs now! THere’s something really uplifting and lovely about your films. I think the music you choose really adds to them too! It made me smile 🙂

  • Oh Emma! Nice to see your face! Another gorgeous film - love the girls and the way they look at the camera. Fab to see Mr C too - well done - you’re getting so clever at all this stuff!

  • Oh, this is lovely. I just did a Facebook one about NC throwing himself off the bottom stairs (he’s just learned to climb) and it is really silly and amateur; I’d love to learn how to make films using ‘proper’ techniques. My mum’s a film-maker but I can’t seem to concentrate when she starts talking about wide angles. It’s a bit like when your parents teach you to drive. Actually can’t wait to meet you this Saturday! Yay. xx

    • Haha, yes, I think when parents start trying to tell us something we still still have that ability to switch off, like when we were kids! Can’t wait to meet you too! x

  • Glad you are still really enjoying the film class and I can see improvements in your technique already! #marvmondays
