Dear August,
Oh August, you were another month that proved to be a bit of an emotional rollercoaster. You were also a very busy month. There were two trips back to the UK and rather a lot of juggling children and work. I have had a fantastic month with the girls. There has been lots of laughs and cuddles. Ok, there was the odd spat and temper tantrum too. The house will be very quiet next week.
We had some lovely sunny days in August. However, the hottest day was when I was back in the UK. Just my luck! When in Jersey we made the most of the sun and most days were spent at the beach. There have been a lot of picnics and too many ice-creams consumed. I have easily put on half a stone this summer! Whoops.
August, my waistline would like a break now 😉
What were my August highlights?
- Going back home to visit family and friends
- We had a child free weekend celebrating our wedding anniversary
- Mumsnet asked me to write a guest post for them - Olympic sexism - “We won’t let the media get away with it”
- We collaborated with Joules. You can find the girls on their website! Oldest is now convinced that this means she is famous
- I had a break from blogging and didn’t blog for nearly two weeks. I am now feeling very refreshed and raring to go again
- Youngest had her settling in days at pre-school. I am very proud of her.
- I am back in the Top 500 for the Tots100 (UK parent blog index)
- Somehow I am now number 42 in the Hibs100 (UK home and interiors blog index). I am thrilled with my new ranking and was not expecting it at all! I plan to enjoy it while it lasts
- I am now very close to 3,000 followers on Twitter and I now have over 700 followers on Instagram. Thank you for following me 🙂
- I am loving being a co-host on the Friday Frolics linky. I am still feeling the pressure to write a funny post every week! Eeeks
- I introduced my shop! You can now shop directly from my blog. In my interiors posts I will be including links to my favourite home bits. There is also a permanent shop tab where you can find lovely goodies for little ones. I have exciting plans to expand the shop in the coming months
- Finally, I am still trying to get to grips with my Facebook account and page. I don’t have a clue what I am doing on either but it is progress. Friends have now told me that Facebook has had its day. I am always late to the party!
Our plans for September
- I have some other exciting collaborations coming up. *Fingers crossed!*
- To start exercising again. Urgh. I said this last month but I really do need to start this month. My clothes are noticeably tighter and I have a moonwalk (no not Michael Jackson) marathon to train for *gulp*
- To set up my office
- Finish decorating the girls’ bedroom
What are your plans for this month?

Lovely to hear about your month - yaaaaay to Joules and big congrats on your Tots100 and Hibs100 scores, that’s fab. Hope September is fab and can’t wait to hear about your collaborations soon 🙂 xx
Ahh thank you Bridie 🙂
Well done on your Tots and HIBs scores, those are fantastic! Working with Joules is amazing as well. My friend did the moon walk a few years ago, it’s a great route taking in all the sights. Can’t wait to see what’s coming up in September.xx
Oh, that’s good to hear your friend enjoyed the walk! I am hoping that I do too!
Wow, it sounds like you have had a fantastically successful month. Congratulations and well done. Pen x
Thank you 🙂
Hmmm plans for September? Get back into the routine of work and get organised! Lots to do this year. Sounds like your summer holidays were lots of fun #KCACOLS
Hope you manage to get organised!
How nice you had a two week blogging break. I’m sure that’s good for the creative soul! The girls looked great in the Joules post. go girl with the rankings! Lovely hearing what you’re all up to. The heatwaves were one of my favourite highlights and the fact Baby Munch is nearly walking. I know September will bring some good things too. but I don’t want to wish away the year. Will you be coming along to BlogFest in November? #KCACOLS
I really think the blogging break was amazing for the blogging soul. I have only just joined Facebook, I’m not convinced! Thanks for your lovely comment 🙂
ps I am hoping to come to blogfest!
Sounds like you had a great month. Congratulations on all the exciting things going on with your blog. My aim for September is to exercise too! #kcacols
Eeeeks! We can do this! Let’s get exercising, soonish 😉
So exciting about your shop! And yay for Tots100 and Hibs100! Well done on setting up the facebook page - I took ages to set one up as I insisted I didn’t want one. Begrudgingly I will now admit that it’s the platform that drives most of my traffic - I hope it works as well for you.
Best of luck with the exercise - I really should join you, my jeans are currently cutting me in half!! #KCACOLS
Oh, I have just joined facebook and I’m not keen! I will give it some more time 🙂
Wow it sounds like it’s been a busy month! We’ve just bought that Joules raincoat for BB - it’s gorgeous and I wish they did them in adult sizes! #KCACOLS
I love the Joules raincoats. They really should do them in adult sizes!
Well done on your rankings! I need to focus on social media and pinnable pics! Also need to lose that extra summer weight!! #KCACOLS
Thank you! Good luck with all of your plans too 🙂
Number 42 in HIBS! Well done Emma! Well I have the MADs in two weeks so looking forward to meeting loads of bloggers. I imagine that will be a highlight! Thanks so much for linking up at #KCACOLS. Hope you come back again next Sunday
Thank you lovely 🙂
August sounds like a fab month for you, well done on your stats and writing for mums net, that’s fabulous news! Good luck with your September plans, I also keep telling myself I will exercise too but I’m not sure I really mean it! #kcacols
Not sure I mean it when I say I will exercise - whoops!
Sounds like you had an amazing August! My plans for September are based around moving my business website over from weebly to wordpress, which I’ve been putting off for weeks and weeks. x #KCACOLS
Oh you sound like you have a really exciting month planned!
It sounds like you’ve had a great month and you’re doing very well with your blog! Good luck with the new exercise regime. Moonwalks are cool. #KCACOLS
Thank you 🙂
Sounds like August has been a great month for you. I really need to do some decorating but we’re considering moving house so don’t know whether I should or not! #KCACOLS
Oooh exciting planning to move house or decorate!
Sounds like August was a great month for you Emma. Well done on the mumsnet blog - that was a great post. My plans for September - I think I need to be more organised in my blogging - it’s all a bit adhoc, and also hopefully add some more products to my shop! #kcacols
Aww thanks lovely and YES to you adding new products into your shop!
Wow you have achieved lots. It’s always good to reflect back in this way isn’t it. Often we don’t realise just how much we have actually done. Always good to get a bit of a break in there too. I have lots of plans for September and indeed the next quarter of the year which I am (now that school has restarted) getting down to doing. I think I’m having one of those lulls before a leap at the moment and can’t seem to get my focus where it needs to be so it’s always good to read posts like this to help with momentum. Good luck with your plans! ‘KCACOLS
A lull before you jump back into it is always good! Good luck with with your plans too 🙂
Yaaaaaay! Congratulations on being a finalist!
Ahh thanks lovely. Perhaps you could aim to blog three times a week but on the same days 🙂
You’ve definitely had some lovely things happen to you in August. Here’s to achieving your goals in September. #KCACOLS
August sounded great, happy belated anniversary and best of luck on your September plans #KCACOLS
WOW you had a busy August!
Well done on your Tots and His scores.
I agree with you on FB, personal page I can manage, not a notion about blog page.
Little Miss OMG developed a bit of an ice cream addiction over the summer, thankfully she only ate a little and I ate the rest
#kcacols
Oh no! I hope you can wean her off the ice-cream!
I also had a couple of weeks off from blogging during August while we were in France - the first time I’ve had more than a week away from the keyboard in over eight years - although it’s taking a while to get back into the swing of things. September’s a busy month - I’m away a couple of times with work plus I’m running a session at BlogOn in two weeks’ time - which I really ought to crack on with given that so far all I’ve managed to do is decide what font I want to use …. #KCACOLS
Oooh good luck with Blogon. I can’t wait to read how you have got on!
What a fun August! Especially getting to celebrate your wedding anniversary. Good luck with all of your plans for September #KCACOLS
Thanks lovely xx
That’s a packed month. You put me to shame! Kudos on Mumsnet. Fame and fortune awaits!
I also took a break from writing for all sorts of reasons.
#KCACOLS
Haha, I hope fame and fortune and waits. Sometimes I think a break is very much needed!
